All Good Things Must Come To An End

So these are my last 2 weeks at the Thompson Hotel on Fridays.

I initially took on the challenge of creating #InGoodCompany Fridays there, to prove to myself that a single person, with the right branding, programming and venue can take a "dead" night and make it something special.

A night that many other groups had tried to make work, but for one reason or another, couldn't. I wanted to create a party where good people could get together, dress up (if they wanted to) and enjoy a hassle free Friday night, with no kids, no cover and no bullshit.

The result was #InGoodCompany Fridays. Not just a brand name, but a promise! Building on my previous success with the hotel as a venue, I was confident that I could leverage my relationships to get it buzzing again and boy, did I!

The response from the city was phenomenal!

Fridays at the Thompson Hotel rooftop went from an afterthought with no buzz, to one of the hottest parties in Toronto!

I was only being paid for the roof...but I knew that in order to make this party work, I had to go all out...and when I go all out, a venue with space for 120 (the rooftop's legal capacity), just won't do. I actually filled both floors, the roof and the lobby (200+ legal capacity) almost every single week and frequently went to the lobby to party with my people, because...well, that's what I'm about. I was the only promoter on this night...but I didn't do this on my own. I did it with you. The wonderful people that trusted me to put on a great party week after week with all the right people.

My brand isn't based on being the "coolest" person in the room and my parties aren't about me. They're about you. And that's why they're successful.

All good things do come to an end however, so my contract there is coming to an end and I've decided to not renew and move on to fresher ground for the Fall.

I want to thank each and everyone of you that RSVP'd and made this night what it was, a place where adults could get together #InGoodCompany.

Cheers
